Port Congestion Surcharge
It has been announced by
the trade locally that ALL ocean carriers and carriers agents
will be applying a “UK PORT CONGESTION SURCHARGE OF
US$145 PER TEU (Twenty foot equivalent Unit) and this becomes
effective from all “on board” bills of lading
dated 01/12/07 and will continue in force until further
notice.

NOTICE
OF INCREASE ON FAR EAST TRADE LANES FROM 01/10/07
The FEFC has
announced a ‘Restoration notice’ on all trades
from the far east. As part of the 4th quarter business plan,
importers are advised of the following rate restoration
programme:-
Cargo from Asia (including Japan) to North Europe a rate
increase of US$200 per TEU to be implemented to the trade
lanes from 1st October 2007 through to 31st December 2007.
A rate increase of US$ 350 per TEU will be implemented on
REEFER containers for the same period.
ALSO
All 40’ High cube containers will be subject to an
increase of US$300 per unit above the rate restoration increase.
The Peak Season Surcharge which came in to force on 1st
August 2007 will remain in place until 17th February 2008.

“rate restoration” on the Far East Trade
IThe FEFC have announced
that from 1st July 2007 there is likely to be a “rate
restoration” on the Far East trade of US$300 per TEU
PLUS a EWS (Eastbound Weight Surcharge) on 20’ containers
over 14000 kgs on 20’ containers from China.19/06/07
Port
Infrastrcuture Charge
In a letter received to day
from Hutchison Ports UK Ltd (operators of the Port of Felixstowe)
the levy to partially fund the infrastructure leading into
the port will be passed to the consumer effective from vessels
arriving on or after Monday 2nd April 2007 at a rate of
£5.50 per container.

"PORT OF FELIXSTOWE EXPANSION"
The Port of Felixstowe has been granted consent to reconfigure
the southern terminals and upon completion increase container
capacity by approximately 50%. Construction will not be
started until a legally binding commitment by the port to
fund external road and rail upgrades. These costs have previously
been funded by the Government but a change in Government
policy in 2004 means that external infrastructure costs
are now levied on the industry.
The port proposes charging £5.50 per container from
2nd April 2007 until the end of 2008 and the time scale
for recovery and cost per container beyond 2009 will be
determined over the next 12 months.

Sub service
Globex are pleased to announce that it has commenced
regular servics to Indian Sub continent, inluding Pakistan,
India and Sri Lanka. The new service is in additon to the
Far East service, Malta service, European and Canadian services.

The FEFC has announced that the PSS is likely to
remain in forcen untill at least the end of December at
a rate of US$90 per TEU

Port
of Felixstowe intoduces new 2006 tariff from july 1st 2006
From
1st July 2006, DEFRA, Port Health CAP, Forestry will increase
to £75 per container and X-Ray scanning charges will
increase to £42 per container.
