Freight Management Ltd attains AEO Certification
Globex Freight Management Ltd has attained Authorised Economic
Operator certification with H M Revenue & Customs.
An AEO is a business involved in the international supply
chain which has proved themselves to be compliant and trustworthy,
and where applicable, safe and secure. The introduction
of AEO status is the EU response to the need to secure international
supply chains and the introduction of Customs-Trade Partnership
Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) in the USA. AEO is based on,
and is compatible with, the World Customs Organisation’s
SAFE Framework of Standards which is being implemented by
Customs authorities across the globe. The criteria for a
Customs simplification AEO also provide a common and harmonised
set of criteria for granting customs simplifications across
the EU. Recognition will enable businesses to have their
consignments fast-tracked through customs controls. If a
consignment is selected for examination they will receive
priority over non-AEOs. For businesses holding AEOS or AEOF
status they may opt to use a reduced data set when lodging
entry or exit summary declarations. Mutual Recognition Agreements
with third countries will also recognise the AEOS or F status
and offer the relevant benefits to those businesses at their
frontier.

Notice of UK Port Congestion Surcharge
One of the major ocean carriers
has announced that from 14th February 2010 a “UK port
congestion surcharge” of US$100 per TEU (twenty foot
equivalent unit) will be charged on all imported containers
arriving from the far east until further notice.
Whilst we intend to lobby against such a surcharge, the
likely hood is that all other major carriers will follow
suit. These surcharges are circumstantial beyond our control
and regret that where such a surcharge has been issued,
will be recovered in our sales invoices.
Thank you for your attention and understanding.
Notice of UK Port Congestion Surcharge.
In accordance with the extremely serious congestion that
exists at UK terminals, China Shipping Container Lines hereby
announce an emergency “UK Port Congestion Surcharge”
of USD 100 per TEU for all cargo arriving from the Far East.
This is applicable on all containers importing to any UK
port with effect 14th February 2010 (based on onboard B/L
date) until further notice.
